Vodka ,a clear and transparent form of hard drink ,contains water and ethanol and is prepared by multiple distillations from fermented grain, potatoes or even sugar molasses. However the most classic grains for Vodka hard drink being rye and wheat and the most precious and classic Russian Vodka was prepared from wheat only. The re-distillation of Vodka results in the so called "efficient form "and is a clear, transparent and characterless liquid. To your amazement some of the governments have set a minimum limit of alcohol content for the spirit to be called "Vodka",like some European Unions who have set a minimum 37.5% alcohol by volume. The drink generally has 35-40% alcohol by alcohol and is the most dominant drink of Eastern European counties like Russia,Poland and Sweden .But the ingredients for preparing the drink in all these countries are different. The potatoes which are being used in Poland for the preparation is looked down by their Russian counterparts .Vodka can be flavored by various herbs ,fruits and spices.
As far as the classification of the vodka is concerned ,there is no classification as such. While in Russia it is classified as special which is superior export quality and strong Vodka with 56% alcohol by volume, while in Poland the classification is done as standard, premium and deluxe. In US is is considered as "neutral drink"and the classification is mainly done on the basis of price and alcohol by content.
